Superdrug Haul

You know what it's like when you just go to order a couple of things then the next thing you have a basket full of mostly impulse buys and things that are just too much of a good offer to not get. I originally put more in my basket but I was very good and short listed it to these lovely items.

I am such a huge fan of using salt spray, it is so easy to apply and leave in your hair. It makes my work hair easier. Toni and Guy do a larger version of this but I thought I would get this small 75ml one, it is perfect travel size or just to keep in your handbag. £2.19 for this which I don't think is bad at all.

These were quite tricky to apply, I'm not going to lie but once I got them on they stayed on all night and they looked really pretty. I wanted something dramatic and these certainly met up to those expectations. A bargain at £2.77.

This product was the reason for my little Superdrug haul. My brother keeps using my hairspray (I have no idea why, he's a weirdo) so I ordered this. I didn't want to get an overly expensive one as it would mostly be going on my brothers hair. It is quite good actually, I don't like hairspray when it makes your hair go crunchy, I just like a loose hold for when I've curled my hair.

Little bit obsessed with Rose Gold right now so I was more than happy to discover this Rose Gold blusher by Sleek. The colour is gorgeous and quite subtle as a blusher, it creates a nice shimmer or you could use it as a bit of contouring. It also comes with a nice little mirror.

Keeping to the Rose Gold theme, I found this eye shadow stick by Kate Moss for Rimmel. It was £4.49, it is super easy to apply and of course I love the colour. You could use a little for the daytime and go bold for the evening.

These Elegant Touch false nails were on offer for £3.30 which is a bargain so I thought I would try them. I love this colour and they will fit my tiny child sized nails.

Soo...these weren't the colour they looked on the picture. I thought they were a darker finding Nemo colour orange. They are quite bright but I think they will be perfect with a tan or at a festival. These were also £3.30.

Date Night Make-up and Outfit

I wore this black lace Oasis dress last weekend, it is quite a big deal for me to wear a black dress or black at all as I would usually wear the brightest item in my wardrobe. I love this dress, I feel comfortable in it and I like the length. I got it in the sale for £20 which is a complete bargain as the starting price was £60. There may be some left I'm not sure, I got this one from an Oasis concession in Debenhams so it's worth trying there too.
I wore nude shoes and a red bag to complete the outfit.
I did quite a neutral smokey eye using a little palette by mua, red lip using Rimmel 108 and just a bit of shimmer on my cheeks.

January Favourites

I can't believe we are halfway though Febuary, wow that went quickly. Sorry for the delay but here are my favourites from last month which feels really long ago now. I promise to upload my favourites sooner next time.

This Rimmel gold eye shadow in the shade Gold Record is so shimmery and just really easy to wear. I haven't been wearing any liquid liner recently and have been putting a little bit of eye shadow on instead so I don't feel too naked. I have been wearing a dusting of it in the day time but it's probably more for the evening with liquid liner and false eyelashes.

I got these little guys for christmas, I actually received them after christmas as my mum had forgotten to give me it. I like wear the gold on one or two nails and the red on the rest. They are really quick drying and long lasting. It doesn't tend to smudge or chip which are the problems I find with other nail varnishes.

I love this Revlon matte balm in the shade Striking Spectaculaire, the colour is really pigmented and is so moisturising. It smells nice, it feels nice and is perfect for the daytime as it is matte. Its safe to say I love these as I also have a pink one and definitely want more colours. They weirdly smell like peppermint.

Lash sensational Maybelline mascara makes my eyelashes so long and defined. After a couple of strokes they are pretty much done or you can apply more for a more dramatic look.

I get bored very easily with my hair colour so last month I thought I would go a shade of red. I really liked it, I have a lot of red in my hair anyway so I think those tones suit me. It has faded a lot and now I am bored again...hmm what colour next?

Its rare that I actually bother to style my hair so this Vo5  is ideal, I put it in when my hair is wet and it is nice and wavy in the morning.

I know its a bit naughty having Coco Pops for breakfast do they do contain iron and vitamin D so it equals out...right? I'm not usually a cereal person but I have been enjoying these and I could just eat them any time of the day.
I have started to play badminton, I didn't have any trainers apart from a really old pair which I knew my brother would laugh at so I invested in these Nike Roshes. They were only £32 from an outlet store which is a bargain and I actually love the design of them. I like things that are a bit different and these certainly are.

Handmade Valentines Gift

This year I thought I would use my creativity for my boyfriends valentines present, I have made him something thoughtful which I really hope he likes. He has strict instructions not to read this until after Sunday so it's a bit of a risk sharing this but I wanted to give you a last minute idea that will save you from any awkwardness.

I came up with the idea of making him some tokens of things that either we can do together or I can do for him. To display the tokens I have glued some envelopes together in a line. A token will go into each envelope.
I then made the tokens out of some red card and put something different on each one. They range from a token for a cup of tea, to us watching a Star wars film together (which is a big thing for me as I don't think it's my thing but I am prepared to watch one for him) and the last one is for us to go to the zoo together. I have done 7 all together but you can do as little or as many as you like.

I then folded the envelopes one way then the other until they were all folded and tied some valentines appropriate ribbon around them.

Really simple and easy to do, feel free to choose your own token ideas personal to you. For a couple of the tokens I have included gift cards that relate to that token.

Tadaaaaah

Tartan A-line Dress

As part of my decision to try and make something new each month, my January make was this tartan a-line dress with a peter pan collar. I made a skirt out of the same fabric which I will show you at a later date.

I used a pattern I already had, I made a new sleeve pattern and lengthened the bodice pattern as the one pictured was for a shirt.

This cute peter pan collar was from eBay and I sewed it onto the dress by hand.

The thing I like about this dress is how versatile it is. You can wear it in the daytime with tights, chelsea boots and a jacket (which is what I wore to work the other day) or you could wear it in the evening with heels. It is super comfy and I am happy I made it, I can see myself wearing this quite a bit.

Happy Jar

Last year I started this little happy jar, whenever I did something cool or I was grateful of something or I thought of something that made me happy I would write it down and put it into this jar.

I got the jar from Ikea and decorated it with this cute lace and some string.

I wrote down my little memories on these coloured post it notes and from time to time I would get other people to write down something they wanted to.

I read back all of the little notes I had gathered over the year and each one made me smile or laugh. I think I am going to store them all in a scrapbook or maybe in a frame I haven't decided yet but I am definitely going to start writing down new memories.I love this idea as when I get a down day I can read a couple of notes and instantly feel better. It just keeps you positive and reminds you of what you have to be grateful for, It is a good idea to do it as a family and read them back together or even just as a couple.
